At 83 and 79 years old, they return to the ice with a spectacular Olympic-winning performance.

Ludmilla Belousova and Oleg Protopopov are a legendary pair of figure skaters who have won numerous accolades throughout their career. They were born in Moscow, Russia, and became partners both on and off the ice.

Belousova and Protopopov began skating together in 1954 and quickly established themselves as a force to be reckoned with. They won their first national championship in 1957 and went on to win the World Figure Skating Championships in 1965, 1966, and 1967. They also competed in three Olympic Games, winning the gold medal in 1964 and 1968 and the silver medal in 1972.

Their unique style, which combined athleticism, grace, and artistry, set them apart from other pairs skaters of their time. They were known for their intricate lifts and throws, as well as their beautiful spins and footwork. Their performances were always a crowd-pleaser, and they quickly became fan favorites around the world.

After retiring from competitive skating, Belousova and Protopopov continued to perform in exhibition shows and became coaches. In 1992, they moved to Switzerland, where they still reside today. They have two children, a daughter named Maria and a son named Dimitri.

In 2015, Belousova and Protopopov were invited to perform at An Evening With Champions, a charity event organized by Harvard University to benefit the Jimmy Fund. The event featured several renowned figure skaters, including Olympic champions Scott Hamilton and Kristi Yamaguchi.

Belousova and Protopopov’s performance was a highlight of the evening, with the crowd cheering and applauding throughout their routine. It was a reminder of their incredible talent and the mark they have left on the sport of figure skating.
